Puff Pastry Apple Roses

Puff Pastry Apple Roses

With the fall season in full swing, we always like to try out new desserts made with apples. I was watching The Chew one day and they made a rose with puff pastry and apples. They were so pretty that I decided to try my hand at making them, even though I usually prefer quick and easy recipes instead of more fussy recipes.

Guess what? These really aren’t that hard to make. They just look like they took a long time!

I made them for a dinner with our extended family and everyone thought they were gorgeous. They had no idea that they are actually pretty simply to make.

These are best if you eat them the same day you made them. We had a few apple roses left over when I tested out this recipe, and they got a little try in the refrigerator by the next day.

We just ate them as-is but you can also use them to decorate a cake. It is a great edible alternative to silk flowers or real flowers.

Plus, you don’t have to feel too guilty about eating two or three… apples actually have a ton of health benefits. Helen from Well-Being Secrets wrote an extensive blog post about the science-backed health benefits of apples that you should check out!

There are actually a lot of recipes and instructions out there, but I think this video on how to do it is by far the best. This is the exact recipe I used, but you could also use different flavors of preserves.

If the tops of your apples start to get too brown while baking, but the bottoms aren’t done yet, cover with tin foil while you continue baking. You can serve with a drizzle of glaze made out of powdered sugar and milk, sprinkle with powered sugar, or just enjoy as-is.
