On weeks when I am testing out new recipes, my kitchen is usually a disaster zone by mid-day. I love a quick and easy treat that I can whip up in my blender for a late breakfast, lunch, or a mid-afternoon snack.
Smoothie bowls are also so pretty, am I right? Some food bloggers go crazy with the ornately decorated toppings, but even if you just throw some fruits and seeds on top like I do, they just look so beautiful with all the bright colors.

What I like most about smoothie bowls is what I like about smoothies too: they are totally customizable. Sure, some flavors work better together than others, and this cookbook is filled with yummy flavor combination ideas. However, if you are missing an ingredient, no need to panic or run to the store. Just replace with another fruit or topping that you have in your fridge or pantry.
I happen to hate strawberries. I know, I know, I am a monster. My hubby loves them, though! So I made the recipe as printed for him (which he enjoyed) and replaced the strawberries with a mixture of raspberries and blackberries for myself (also super yummy). In both cases, the pomegranate shines through and is the real star of this recipe.
Pomegranate juice, tea and strawberries all contain antioxidants, so this smoothie bowl is healthy as well as delicious!
- 1/4cup brewed pomegranate-flavored tea, chilled
- 1/4cup unsweetened pomegranate juice
- 1 tbsp liquid honey
- 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
- Ice cubes (optional)
- Toppings as desired, such as sliced strawberries, pomegranate seeds, goji berries, muesli, and chia seeds
- In blender, combine tea, pomegranate juice, honey and strawberries.
- Secure lid and blend (from low to high if using a variable-speed blender) until smooth. If a thicker consistency is desired, add ice, one cube at a time, and blend until smooth.
- Pour into bowls and top with any of the suggested toppings, as desired.
