Recently, I got the opportunity work with Gold Peak Coffee on this sponsored post, which means that I was able to try Gold Peak Coffee, formerly Georgia Coffee. Yum! And doing so reminded my of holidays in Pennsylvania.
When I was younger, coffee was really special. I actually didn’t drink it often until a few years ago. But I would drink it around the holidays.
Around the holidays, my grandma always come over to my mom’s house for a cookie-making-palooza. They make dozens of cookies every year – enough to cover an entire table and then some! And of course, my pap always comes along to help taste-test.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved making sugar cookies best. Not because I like the taste of sugar cookies most (they’re okay), but because I love rolling out the dough, choosing the shapes I want to cut, and decorating with colored sugar sprinkles and jimmies. So much fun! I still love making sugar cookies.
After dinner, my mom would pour us all a cup of coffee, so we could dunk our cookies. You’d have to hold the cookie in the piping hot cup of coffee long enough for it to soak up the flavor, but not so long that the cookie breaks off and becomes soggy mush at the bottom of the cup.
Today, I drink a lot of coffee, but it’s more for a pick-me-up in the morning or during that drag in the afternoon between 2 and 4. I rarely order a cup after dinner with dessert. Whenever I do, though, it reminds me of coming home from college for winter break and dunking my cookies in coffee after dinner, while the cold winter of Pennsylvania swirled around us outside. To me, dessert and coffee is a taste of Pennsylvania.
Gold Peak Coffee is made with 100% Arabica beans, for a richer flavor that brings you that taste of home, even when you’re out for the evening.
When’s the last time you treated yourself to a cup of coffee after dinner? To me, this is a total indulgence, since we’re usually on the go an don’t pause for even a minute to linger over coffee. Sipping a cup with my boyfriend before heading to the next things on our schedule turns dinner into date night.
Gold Peak Coffee is available in new markets, so check out the menu at your favorite dinner place – it just might be available where you live too! Just enter you zip code on their website to find out the nearest location where Gold Peak Coffee is served. Take a moment to enjoy a #Sipofhome with your partner or friends. Make your dinner out really special with coffee and dessert.
We had cheesecake, by the way. So yummy! What’s your favorite after-dinner treat with a cup of coffee?
